Are You a Snorkeler?
If so, you are in luck! Here at Coconut Grove, we are fortunate to be a short swim away from the top rated house reef on the island.
Our coral cover is 20% higher than the average Fiji reef (our’s is 66% coral, while the average is 45%).
You will love being able to swim a lazy 10-12 minutes right from the beach to over a dozen beautiful snorkel reefs. If you prefer to use one of our kayaks (free of charge!), it will just take you just 8-10 minutes. Either way you’re in for an incredible underwater excursion.
When you arrive at the resort, you will notice a basic map included in the “welcome folder” in your bure. It highlights some of our favorite snorkel spots. Many guests spend 3 or 4 hours out there exploring… and some guests come here just for our snorkeling!
We have all the snorkel gear that you will need right here at the resort (again, free of charge). The staff will set you up for your journey, but we ask you to please not go out between 1.5 hours on either side of low tide. We want to protect you as well as our flourishing yet fragile reefs.
Diving Testimonials
From author & photographer Simon Mustoe
“One visit was not enough so we went back a second time a few days later. We’re most grateful to the staff at Coconut Grove for their hospitality and help. We look forward to returning one day.”
From Helen Sykes, Fiji’s Marine Biologist:
“See how many new corals you can find. It’s an amazing time to watch the reef literally “re-cover” itself.”

Diving The Rainbow Reef
When you are ready to venture out beyond our house reef, there is no better dive spot in all of Fiji than the legendary Rainbow Reef.
Located within the Somosomo Strait (the ocean passage which runs between Taveuni and nearby Vanua Levu), the Rainbow Reef is considered the “soft coral capital of the world”, offering both scuba divers and snorkelers the chance to explore over 4,000 square kilometers of vibrant coral gardens. Just a short boat ride from Taveuni and you’ll be face-to-face with over 390 species of corals, stunning marine creatures such as anemones, turtles, eels and manta rays, and nearly 1500 kinds of fish.
There are more than 20 dive sites within the Rainbow Reef, and the top Dive & Snorkel shop on the island to help you explore them all is Taveuni Ocean Sports.
Please contact Julie at dive@taveunioceansports.com to book your trip.
